Current Project: Sightings of Home 2025
Sightings of Home 2025 is completely free to attend and will be held at the Gardens opposite the Clarendon Hotel, Gravesend, on Saturday October the 11th from 4-7 pm
Come along to join the sensory experience – suitable for all ages
The evening begins at 4pm with a gentle soundscape, offering a range of sounds and chants to bring us together and prepare us for the themes of the evening, home, belonging and reflection.
From 5 pm, join artist Callisto to learn to fold your own origami boat, a mindful origami practice led by the lead artist on this project.
From 6pm, a drumming soundscape forms the background to the main event, viewing the boats upon the River. These biodegradable, light but robust paper boats are made with drawings collected from the community through outreach workshops, the drawings reflect a community’s ideas, memories and hopes around the idea of “home”.

The “home” prompts are designed to be expanded upon and approached in an individual way.
Here are a few of the prompts that participants drew from:
- What is one thing that reminds you of your childhood home?
- What would your ideal home look like?
- What makes home a home?
- Where do you live now?
- What is your favourite place you’ve ever lived?
When people drew for Sightings of Home 2023, people invariably chose to draw memories of childhood homes or current homes, over future homes. More people chose to engage with memories of childhood homes than chose to draw current homes.

Sightings of Home is a series of outdoor installations by Callisto, beginning with Sightings of Home 2023, a part of the Gravesham Fringe 2023. The series continues with Sightings of Home 2025, which is a Creative Estuary co-commission.
